Art Encounter and Retreat at Sandy Neck, facilitated by Mary L. Moquin
Friday, September 25 at 11 until Sunday, September 27th at 11
All accommodations and meals included $475. Limit 8 participants.
This encounter is geared to increase ones sensitivity and responsiveness to the landscape. It is not a traditional plein air painting trip.
We will spend the weekend experiencing the landscape by exploring the inner and outer workings of nature and how it resonates to each of us individually and collectively. The focus is not as much on the artwork created as it is on the attempt to express the experience through art and expand artistic vocabulary. Exercises will be suggested and guidance will be available but artists will not be restricted from following their own muse.
Sandy Neck is a barrier beach located in Barnstable only accessible by boat or four-wheel drive. My husband and I have owned a cottage at the point for several years. We will have a group of cottages available to stay in and transportation to various locations on the peninsula. Cape cod themed meals will be prepared and served along with evening gatherings around the campfire with impromptu song (weather and wind permitting).
All levels and mediums are encouraged to attend, even the complete novice. I have recently completed my MFA and I am filled with new ideas and excited to share some new insights I have discovered. Art is about more that putting paint on the canvas, it can evoke an experience; I hope you will join me in this one.
